Description

TRACKED/STACKED/BLEND

It was a very early morning when I headed out to capture this spectacular region of space from the dark skies near Lake Huron.
This colourful, dusty and nebulous area lies near Antares, a red supergiant star known as the heart of the Scorpion. Antares is so bright and so red it creates the yellow nebulous area you see in this image. The dark dust lanes point towards the core of the Milky way, our galaxy.

Technically this region sits within the constellation Ophiucus ( the 13th zodiacal constellation lost to history but that is a story for another day) near a star called Rho. So we call this area “Rho Ophiuci”.

A perennial favorite of astrophotographers I have been working on Rho for 2 years. This time I think the astromodified camera was the trick! That camera is extra sensitive to emission nebulae.
Inspired by a recent image at 85mm from the incredible photographer  Uros FInk
